I came to this through my sister, who films weddings too. She needed a hand during a busy spell three years ago, I said yes, and I loved it far more than I expected to. I carried on filming alongside her, and for the past year or so I have been taking on weddings of my own.
What I have learned in that time is that the best moments are the ones nobody staged. So I work quietly, fly on the wall, reading the room rather than directing it. If something intimate is happening in a corner, I will not interrupt it to get a better angle. I would rather have the real version from a few feet back. My equipment is small and quiet for the same reason, and most couples tell me afterwards they forgot I was there.
I am married myself, so I know how quickly the day goes and how little of it you actually get to watch. That is really the job: handing back the parts you missed. It is also why I am relaxed about timings, and why I will happily talk through the whole day with you beforehand if you are the sort of person who likes a plan.
Away from weddings I am at home in Yorkshire with my wife and our two labradors, with our first baby due in November. Most weekends involve a long dog walk, a DIY project I have optimistically underestimated, or the Formula 1 on in the background.

A longer film, generally up to 30 minutes, using as much of the day's footage as possible in chronological order, with backing tracks of your choice.

A few questions couples often ask. Nothing here is set in stone. I'm happy to adapt to whatever your day needs.
It depends on your locations. If both parties get ready at the same venue, capturing both is no issue. When they're separate, I'd prioritise bridal prep and get some shots of the groom before the ceremony.
Absolutely. I don't restrict my time on your wedding day. I aim to arrive around three hours before the ceremony for the morning details and stay until enough footage is captured, including any late night events.
The teaser film is generally with you within a week. The longer film and any extras follow within three months, and it's worth the wait.
A deposit secures your date at the time of booking. Then, roughly a month before the big day, we have a planning call to gather timings, requirements and anything else I should know.
Travel within about two hours of Sheffield is included. For venues further away I'd usually arrange accommodation the night before, so traffic or delays never risk a missed moment.
Relaxed and candid. I blend into the background so you can enjoy your day while I capture it naturally.
